Spira was formed in October of 2000, in Calgary Alberta,  by Sora Nalani, RavenDreamer and Caprice Lian Braeden after a search of modern earth-based religions failed to produce one that met the spiritual needs and beliefs of each of them.  Formed on a basis of shared spiritual philosophies and mutal friendships, Spira was born!  Over the next year, Sora, RavenDreamer and Caprice developed the tenants of Spira and actively researched and pursued esoteric activities as a group and individually.  Over this time, Spira's rituals were developed as well as the structure of Spira.

In 2001, Spira formed an outer grove that celebrates the lunar cycle, called Twilight Mysteries.  Twilight Mysteries accepted a number of members, most of whom were interested in Spira.  Twilight Mysteries allowed for all the members to learn about each other's philosophies and beliefs while celebrating the lunar cycle.

Early on in the year 2002, Spira was ready to grow and the founders developed a learning schedule for those that were interested in Spira.  At that time, Spira accepted it's first student and new member, Mayda Pyralis.  Over the year, interest in Spira began to grow and the need for a learning program suitable for students who lived in places other than Calgary was realized.  This led to revised lesson plans and the acceptance of students from British Columbia and Ontario.  In that same year, Spira applied for and was granted the status of a religious society in Alberta and is incorporated as the Alberta Community Church of Spira.

Spira continues to gain members and interest from a wide variety of areas within Canada and the United States.  At this time Spira sponsors a number of online groups for those that are interested in it's philosophies and practices, including CASC (Calgary and Area Spira Communities) ESCape (Edmonton Spira Community) and STAR (Spiric Communities of Toronto And Region).  These groups allow for interested people to learn about Spira in an environment that is safe and doesn't require a long-term commitment.

We eagerly look to the future and all that it holds for Spira and it's communities.
