One of the questions that we receive the most is, how do I join Spira?
Spira's philosophy is that we must know someone before they can be accepted as
a member of our groves. This is because we believe that this protects
both our current members and the inquiring potential member from disappointment
and mismatches. So, the next question is, how do we get to know potential
members, especially those that do not live in Calgary or Brampton? Spira sponsors a
number of online groups as well as activity groups that get together on a
regular basis. These groups allow for potential members and current
members to get to know each other in an environment that is relaxed and
fun. After a person has been in one of these groups for 6 months, they
are eligible to apply for Seedling status as well as to potentially
join one of the lunar circles, Twilight Mysteries or
Starlight Mysteries.
Our
Seedling learning schedule starts every year in the Spring and the learning
schedule takes a full year. Following that year, the Seedling may then apply
for Liana status. Liana's are permitted to attend most inner grove
events, including Sabbat Rituals and following the two year learning schedule,
they are eligible to apply for Emergent status. If granted, they
are then full members of the grove, and have all the priviledges of a full
member.
For those that live
in places other than Southern Alberta or Southern Ontario, the process is much the same, although
there may not be a grove nearby with which they can participate in lunar or
Sabbat rituals. Interested potential members need to first discover if
there is an online group or activity group within their area. If there
is, then joining this is the first step. If not, the potential members
should join either a regional group or the national group. After being a
member of one of these groups, and meeting some of the other members and
learning more about the philosophies of Spira, the potential member is eligible
to apply for detached Seedling status. Detached Seedlings are permitted
to attend the Lunar rituals of any of the groves, should they be traveling to
an area that has a grove. The detached Seedling learning schedule starts
in the Spring of each year and runs for a full year. Following this, the
detached Seedling may apply for detached Liana status. A detached Liana
is permitted to attend Sabbat Rituals should they be traveling to an area where
one is being held. The detached Liana learning schedule runs for a full
year and following this, the detached Liana may apply for Emergent
status.
SpiraCanada
SpiraCanada is a strictly online group for those that are interested in Spira
or that follow the Spiric Path. The group has files containing our documents on
Spira's beliefs, moral code, postional roles as well as some information on a
new book called The Essence of Spira, written by one of the founders of SPira,
RavenDreamer. This group is a forum for those that wish to know more about
Spira, a place where questions can be asked and answered in a safe
environment. Monthly online chats are scheduled in which members can talk to each other, which usually are lighthearted and fun. SpiraCanada is a group that is for Canadian
members/potential members, but since there is no group for those that live in
other areas of the world, this would be the group to join, if you don't live in
Canada or if you live in an area of Canada that does not have a regional or
local group. To join SpiraCanada visit

SpiraAlberta
SpiraAlberta is a strictly online group for those that are
interested in Spira or follow the Spiric path and live in Alberta. The group
contains the same files that are on the SpiraCanada group and provides the same
function that SpiraCanada does, but is for a more regional group of people.
SpiraAlberta is a group that any Albertan member or potential member can
join. This is the group to join if you wish to know more about Spira in a
strictly online environment, and/or if you live in an area of Alberta other
than Calgary. To join SpiraAlberta visit

CASC (Calgary
and Area Spiric Communities)
CASC is the local online group for those on the
path of Spira, for those that have an interest in Spira or for those that are
looking for a spiritual community and are following a spiritual path that has
reverance and respect for the natural world. This community is only available
to those that live in the Calgary area. CASC is a strictly online
group but hosts community groups which get together on a
regular basis for activities, discussions and general fun. To join CASC,
potential members must first submit a bio with information about themselves and
their spiritual path to Isea or RavenDreamer (email addresses on the
Contact page). All potential members must then meet with representatives of
CASC prior to being accepted as a member. This ensures that no distruptive or
untruthful people are allowed to join the group. CASC requires that it's
members post online at least once a month. Once a person is a member of CASC,
they can then apply to join the community groups. Currently CASC hosts one
community group, SpiralNights.
SpiralNights is an
activity/discussion group that gets together every second week to discuss
pagan topics, make crafts and engage in fun activities. It is a group that
promotes a strong feeling of fellowship and is meant to be relaxed and fun. All
potential members of SpiralNights are required to attend one meeting prior to
acceptance, and are then voted in/out by the current members. This system
allows for members to have a say in who they spend time with, which is
especially important because many of the SpiralNights are hosted in members
homes. To remain a member of SpiralNights, members must attend at least
one meeting a month.
Twilight Mysteries is group that meets every
month to celebrate the full moon through ritual. Twilight Mysteries has a
focus on balance between male and female energy and honors this through drawing
down both male and female deity energies, several times a year. Twilight
Mysteries is a very selective group and all potential members must be known for
at least 6 months prior to joining.
CASC is the group
to join if you are interested in becoming a member of Spira and live in the
Calgary area. To join CASC, please send a bio to Mayda Pyralis or
RavenDreamer. Please include in the email that you are interested in
joining CASC. You can also visit

VISC
(Vancouver Island Spiric Community)
VISC was created in 2006 in order to build a strong online presence, eventually leading to group activities. This is not a coven or grove, but rather a place to build friendships and meet new people. However, if interest in forming a grove grows over time, that would be wonderful! To join VISC, please send a bio
to Pyrsos. Please include in the email that you are interested in joining
